49ers Pay, Dodgers' Moves and Flag Football
30+ West Coast Sports headlines from the week of May 23, 2025
With the NBA and NHL down to the final four, it’s officially baseball season in the Pacific time zone. West Coast fans can still cheer for Dallas Stars winger Jason Robertson (California), Edmonton Oilers center Derek Ryan (Washington) or Oilers center Jasper Weatherby (Oregon).
Clayton Kershaw returned to the mound for the Dodgers. And they got swept by the Angels over the weekend. Former Dodgers’ closer Kenley Jensen played a major role for the Angels too. Meanwhile, Dodgers fans mourned Chris Taylor’s tenure with the team. Inland Empire native Austin Barnes also got released.
In other news, the NFL is bullish on flag football at the Olympics in the NFL. They opted to let the players participate.
The 49ers paid out QB Brock Purdy with a $265 million contract. Linebacker Fred Warner got a historic $63 million contract. Sorry, Deebo Samuel. Warner is proud of his San Diego heritage.
Also in the Bay, the Warriors pulled up to the Valkyries game only a few days after getting bounced from the Playoffs.
