Doyers in Tokyo, NBA Play-in fight and NHL Postseason
All you need to know from West Coast Sports for March, 21.
It’s time for Baseball. All eyes have been on the Dodgers during their Tokyo Series. Shoehei Ohtani hit a homer, the Dodgers swept the Cubs and the games set viewership records. The Dodgers’ Tokyo Series Merch also set a World Record with over $40 million in sales.
The MLS season is also getting started. All teams are in action this weekend. Meanwhile, the USMNT dropped the Concacaf Semi-Final to Panama.
Otherwise, the NHL season is winding down. San Jose became the first team mathematically eliminated from postseason action. Las Vegas remains atop the West with 88 points. The Kings are in the third slot with 83. The Ducks (68) and Kraken (65) are theoretically still in it. Either way, the Kraken Ownership group has their eyes on an NBA team after the Celtics sold for a record $6.1 billion.
Speaking of the NBA, the standings are getting heated. The Lakers have cooled a bit due to injuries. The Warriors have continued to surge, despite Steph Curry suffering an injury. Golden State is about to go on a crazy road trip. The Clippers are trying to fight their way out of the play-in. The Kings sit comfortably in the ninth slot after cooling down themselves. Should be a fun last few weeks of basketball.
