20+ headlines for West Coast Sports Fans to connect to sports across the Pacific Time zone.
This week is all about the Dodgers-Yankees World Series that begins on Friday at 5 PM in Los Angeles. These teams faced off 43 years ago. And they have a deep rivalry that dates back long before Dodger Stadium existed.
In other Dodgers’ news, RIP Fernando Valenzuela. The former Dodgers player and announcer died at 63. He received tributes from across sports and culture. Now, many expect the Dodgers to win in his memory. Valenzuela was once the hottest player in the MLB.
Fun fact: Managers Dave Roberts and Aaron Boone faced off in college. The Dodgers and Yankees managers were once part of the UCLA-USC rivalry in L.A.
Otherwise, the Clippers opened their billion dollar arena this week. L.A. lost their first game to the Suns. They did pay tribute to Jerry West. And yeah, Clippers parking is not cheap.
Still, it wasn’t all great news for the Clippers. Today, a lawsuit surfaced against the Clippers. It alleges that the Clippers retaliated against a trainer for prioritizing Kawhi’s health over his return.
The NBA brought plenty of other headlines this opening week too. The Lakers also debuted their Lebron-and-Son combo. The Warriors moved on from Klay Thompson. DeMar Derozan made his debut with the Kings.
Meanwhile, the MLS Cup starts this weekend. Yesterday, the Portland Timbers got eliminated in the Wild Card game. The Seattle Storm, LAFC and Los Angeles Galaxy will all represent the West Coast. LAFC earned the top seed with a win over the San Jose Earthquakes last week. MLS Cup action begins next week.

Sorry for the wait! Feel like I’ve been playing catchup on life and work all week. I could just be hungover/dehydrated still.
On Sunday, I had the privilege to get to SoFi. My Raiders got stomped by the Los Angeles Rams. They can’t seem to win in Los Angeles, post-COVID. The Silver and Black looked terrible without Davante Adams, again. There really is not a lot to hope for at this point.
It’s alright. Well the Rams won the game, the Raiders definitely won the tailgate. Silver and Black was everywhere. The Vibes were immaculate as it is always great to connect with OG Los Angeles Raiders fans. Either way, check out the Rams game going on now.
PS Any thoughts on the Dom Kennedy album?
