Oakland's Goodbye, MLB Postseason Race and 20 more West Coast Sports headlines
It is a sad day in Oakland. The A’s will play their last game at the Oakland Coliseum. Tomorrow they play their last home game versus the Rangers. Fans were already seen trying to take seats this week. They increased public transportation numbers to pre-COVID heights.
Still, the A’s are expected to move to Sacramento next year. Oakland lost all major sports teams this decade. The A’s and Raiders will both soon call Vegas home. The Warriors moved across the Bay. Seattle is also fighting for their postseason life. The Mariners beat are chasing the Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals in the AL Wild Card race. Seattle beat the Astros in Houston last night. They play a weekend series at home versus the A’s this weekend.
Speaking of Seattle, the professional teams all released statements about rapper Macklemore. He was seen dropping f-bombs about America at an event. The Seattle rapper is minor owner with the Kraken and Sounders.
Otherwise, the Padres are trying to secure their first NL West title in almost two decades. They beat the Dodgers last night on a triple play, which secured a postseason berth. They have two more games in this series against Los Angeles.
Los Angeles has a two-game lead as of Today. The Dodgers are trying to stay out of the Wild Card game.
Moving to Vegas, the Aces swept the Seattle Storm in the WNBA playoffs. Now, they will get a rematch versus the Liberty. Those teams played in the WNBA Finals last year.
Aces star A’ja Wilson won the MVP of the WNBA. She is the first unanimous MVP since Cynthia Cooper in1997. Wilson led her team in points, rebounds, steals and blocks.
