San Diego Enters the MLS Group Chat, Lillard Gets a Trophy and More
Breaking NHL trade news, MLS expansion updates, Lillard and 37+ links from the Pacific Time zone
Dame Lillard finally won something. The Oakland-Native talked for weeks about winning the NBA Cup. Last night, his Milwaukee Bucks beat the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA’s second in-season tournament. He scored 23 points and folks loved the moment he had with Giannis after the NBA Cup.
In the MLS, the San Diego FC announced a few signings. They made five selections in 2024 MLS Expansion Draft too. Christopher McVay is also set to join the team from DC United.
Further, the Sounders acquired 250,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money from San Diego FC in exchange for two 2025 International Roster slots. The New York Red Bulls sent Andres Reyes to the San Diego FC as well.
On Friday, the first round of the MLS Draft begins at 11 a.m. PT. San Diego FC holds the first MLS SuperDraft selection and San Jose holds the No. 2 pick.
NHL trade news broke this week too. The Kraken added winger Kaapo Kakko from the Rangers.
Kakko was the No. 2 pick in 2019. Seattle gave up defenseman Will Borgen, a third-round pick and sixth-round selection in next year’s draft for the 23-year-old.
Finally, the NFL made the Chargers and Rams the start and book ends of Week 17’s triple-header Saturday next week.

RIP to both my fantasy teams. Half of the blame goes to Cooper Kupp for putting up a zero. The other half goes to my friend who scraped me, despite my team scoring 180 points.
Catch me at the Chargers’ home finale versus the Broncos Thursday. Hopefully, it’s not as bad as last week’s 49ers-Rams game. The Raiders-Falcons game on Monday was just as bad too.
